Splendora High School offers two specialized programs to help prepare students for life beyond grade school. The first program, Career and Technical Education (CTE), offers courses that emphasize career exploration and awareness through practical, hands-on learning methods. The second program focuses on College and Career Readiness and is an Early College High School Program.
Within the Early College High School Program framework, students engage in a diverse range of advanced academic courses with the primary objective of achieving core completion, which entails earning a minimum of 42 college credit hours. This comprehensive curriculum aims to foster a strong foundation for higher education and future career pursuits. Notably, participants in this program also have the remarkable opportunity to earn an Associates Degree, a credential equivalent to 60 college credit hours.
To be eligible for inclusion in the Early College cohort, students are required to submit an application during their 8th-grade year. This application process is open to all 8th-grade students, and there is no associated cost for students who wish to enroll in the program. However, to maintain their standing within the program, students must successfully pass all sections of the TSIA2 examination or achieve an approved score on assessments such as the PSAT/NMSQT, SAT, or ACT. These academic benchmarks are essential for continued participation in the Early College High School program, and students are expected to meet these requirements by the commencement of their sophomore year.
