M/I Homes

M/I Homes was founded in 1976 by cousins Irving and Melvin Schottenstein. Their guiding principle is “treat the customer right” which has helped them grow into a national home builder over the last 40 years. Currently, you can find M/I Homes in 14 communities throughout the Greater Houston area.

M/I Homes implements their Whole Home Building Standards to provide the best product available to the homebuyer. Their building standards are constantly evolving to maintain quality construction while being environmentally responsible. For example, before drywall is installed the wall cavities are cleaned of sawdust and debris to ensure the air will be healthier to breathe which is significant for those that have intense allergies. Every house also undergoes the blower door test. This allows them to check for any air leaks, if any are found they are then sealed. Lo E3 vinyl windows are used to help keep the heat out which is monumental during the Texas Summer months. Low-flow plumbing fixtures are installed to help conserve water and LED bulbs to reduce energy usage. Collectively, these modifications will promote better living and even savings on monthly utility costs. M/I Homes are also independently tested for energy efficiency with the HERS (Home Energy Rating System) test to verify they are meeting or exceeding national standards.
