New Homes in Denton County Denton, Texas

Denton County is located in the northern part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and approximately 35 miles south of the Oklahoma border. It measures about 953 square miles, including water, and is the ninth most populous county in Texas.
The back story of Denton County is much like the rest of the Northeast Texas region in regard to settlers and becoming established. However, the 1950s was a major turning point when Interstate 35 East was built and then joined by Interstate 35 West in the 1970s. With access to significant transportation, the population exploded. Since then, Acme Brick, Sally Beauty Supply, Peterbilt Motors, Frito-Lay and other corporations have their headquarters or primary manufacturing established in the area. The industry growth has made a positive impact. The county’s economy received a score of 92% from U.S. News. The points were based on employment, opportunity, and wealth. For those looking to move to Denton County this is great news.
In 1890 Denton commenced a path for higher education. That initiative was established into what is now known as the University of North Texas (UNT). Texas Woman’s University and North Central Texas College are other institutes in Denton County.
