Sugar Land is part Fort Bend County. This city located Southwest of Houston, TX also has a rich history. The agricultural heritage was established in the early 1800’s when Stephen F. Austin charted 300 families to the area where they found the lands soil rich and fertile. Sugar Land prospered in sugarcane farming and was the leading industry. In 1908 a sugar cane refinery was purchased and renamed Imperial Sugar which lead to the town’s development.

The majority of Sugar Land is made up of white-collar workers and and many of the communities feature golf courses, country clubs and lakes. The median home value is $292,700. It is reported that the medium household income is $108,504. In 2019 Sugar Land ranked #17 in best places to live in Texas according to niche.com.

The population steadily continues to grow and the real estate market continues to meet the growing demand. Some of the leading master-planned communities include: First Colony, Greenwood, Imperial Sugar Land, Lake Pointe Town Center, New Territory, River Park, Sugar Creek and Telfair.
