A wonderful location close to Austin, TX, Lake Travis is a popular place for vacationing. It’s a beautiful resort community offering waterfront parks and plenty of water activities to enjoy. About the Lake 

While Lake Travis is a community, it’s also an actual lake. In fact, it’s known as the Crown Jewel of the Highland Lakes in Texas. This crystal-clear lake offers hundreds of access points. The lake covers about 64 miles and offers plenty of activities to enjoy.  

It’s found just south of the Colorado River and Lake LBJ.  

Lake Travis is a reservoir for flood control. It has the ability to change water heights as much as 100 feet depending on the needs of the area. It has the largest storage capacity of the seven different reservoirs called the Highland Lakes.

Pace Bent Park, Lakeway City Park, and Arkansas Bend Park are three of the main parks in the area. Lake Travis is also home to the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge.  

There are also several country clubs and wonderful golf courses found throughout the area. Austin is close enough for visitors to enjoy, as well.

The Hollows is one of the best new master-planned communities found in Lake Travis. This community covers about 1,400 acres and offers luxurious homes. It’s filled with amenities, such as hiking trails, a beach club with a resort amenity center, a marina, and so much more. This is one of the premier communities found in Lake Travis. 

Homes for sale in Lake Travis range from one-bedroom condos to very large estate houses. There are lots also available for new construction homes throughout the area, too. Of course, larger homes are also available for those seeking to buy a luxury home in the Lake Travis area. 

Things to Do in Lake Travis 

While the majority of the things to do focus on water activities and time on the lake, there are plenty of other things to do throughout the Lake Travis area. Those seeking some of the best parks for enjoying the lake will love the Mansfield Dam Park. It’s home to the largest public boat ramp in the area. You will also find a swimming cove here and areas for scuba diving and fishing. 

Hippie Hollow Park offers a unique spot for sunbathers and swimmers, as well. Residents also enjoy Bob Wentz Park, which is popular for boating, swimming, and windsurfing. There are several other parks throughout the area, too. 

If you prefer to enjoy time dining and shopping, you’re in luck. Lake Travis is home to The Oasis, which is known as one of the best places for dining and entertainment on the lake. You can also enjoy plenty of other great restaurants with outdoor patios and incredible views throughout the area. Many fine dining establishments are found throughout and plenty of boutique shops are also spread throughout the area. 

Lake Travis Schools 

The schools are one of the reasons many families move to Lake Travis. The public schools are a part of the Lake Travis Independent School District. This school system serves more than 7,000 students and offers one of the top school districts in the state. Lake Travis High School is known for the very successful football program and has expanded many times over the years.
